Small but mighty. Wearable technologies, like Apple Watch and Fitbit, have taken over the personal health industry, and for good. These devices allowed for early detection of health abnormalities, such as atrial fibrillation (otherwise known as abnormal heartbeat) that increases an individual’s likelihood of getting a stroke. These wearable devices bring in many benefits: early diagnosis, personalized treatment, and can help people eat better, move more, and sleep more. With advancements in AI and analytics, wearable technologies will likely soon provide health data on blood sugar, alcohol and hydration, signs of inflammation, kidney and liver function and more. The market for the wearable technology is expected to grow rapidly. In 2020, about 200 million wearable devices were sold. This number is expected to be over 400 million by 2026. With the rapid growth and innovation in wearable technologies, the future of personalized healthcare has never been more thrilling.
