World Events and Politics — Israel Prepared For Ground Incursion Into Lebanon
BBC
The United States, along with several European and Arab nations, has put forth a proposal to stop escalating tensions between Hizbullah and Israel while also seeking to revive discussions regarding the ongoing conflict in Gaza. Signatories of the proposal include the EU, France, Germany, and Saudi Arabia, all advocating for an “immediate 21-day ceasefire along the Lebanon-Israel border.” This initiative comes in the wake of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) mobilizing reserves near the Lebanese border, indicating a potential ground invasion. IDF Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi informed troops that airstrikes aimed at Hizbullah were meant “to prepare the area for the possibility of your entry” into Lebanon.
Science and Technology — Exodus At OpenAI
OpenAI is undergoing a significant restructuring to transition from a nonprofit to a for-profit benefit corporation, aiming to attract investors by removing return caps and enhancing equity opportunities. As part of this shift, the nonprofit board will no longer oversee operations, although it will retain a minority stake in the new entity. CEO Sam Altman is set to receive equity in the restructured company, which is valued at $150 billion. This change has been welcomed by investors and aligns OpenAI more closely with competitors like Anthropic and Elon Musk's xAI, while still maintaining a commitment to its mission of developing safe and beneficial artificial general intelligence. The restructuring comes amid notable leadership changes, including the departure of CTO Mira Murati and the current sabbatical of president Greg Brockman.

SK Hynix shares rose over 9% after the company announced it has begun mass production of the world's first 12-layer high-bandwidth memory (HBM) chip, known as HBM3E, which boasts a capacity of 36 gigabytes—the largest among existing HBM chips. This new chip represents a 50% increase in capacity compared to the previous eight-layer version while maintaining the same thickness. As a leading supplier of AI memory chips, SK Hynix aims to deliver this product by year-end, further solidifying its position in the growing AI memory market, which is also reflected in Micron Technology's strong sales forecasts. The announcement has positively impacted Asian chip stocks, with notable gains across the sector.

BBC Good Food
According to the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA), moderate drinking is defined as no more than 2 drinks per day for men and 1 drink per day for women. Binge drinking is a pattern that brings blood alcohol concentration to 0.08% or higher, corresponding to 5 or more drinks for men and 4 or more drinks for women within about 2 hours. Heavy drinking is defined as consuming 5 or more drinks on any day or 15 or more per week for men, and 4 or more on any day or 8 or more drinks per week for women. Alcohol misuse, which includes binge drinking and heavy alcohol use, can lead to alcohol use disorder (AUD), a medical condition characterized by an impaired ability to control alcohol use despite adverse consequences. Certain individuals should avoid alcohol completely, such as those who plan to drive, take certain medications, have certain medical conditions, are recovering from AUD, are under 21, or are pregnant or may become pregnant.
Baking and Cooking - Homemade Danish Dough
This recipe puts a twist on traditional Danish pastry dough. Rather than creating distinct layers of dough and butter through a process called lamination, as is done when making homemade croissants, the butter is incorporated directly into the yeast-based dough. Despite this difference, the resulting pastry still exhibits the desirable flaky texture and rich buttery flavor characteristic of classic Danish pastries. Using this versatile dough as a base, you can craft a variety of delectable pastries, such as a blueberry cream cheese braid or individual breakfast pastries.

“Psychology claims that when you can’t sleep at night, you are actually awake in someone’s dream.” — Anonymous, The Arabian Nights: Tales From a Thousand and One Nights
The “Arabian Nights,” also known as “One Thousand and One Nights,” is a renowned collection of Middle Eastern folk tales compiled during the Islamic Golden Age, featuring a central narrative about King Shahryar and his wife, Scheherazade. After discovering his first wife's infidelity, Shahryar vows to marry a new woman each day and execute her the following morning; however, Scheherazade cleverly delays her fate by telling him captivating stories that remain unfinished each night, compelling him to spare her life for another day. This framework allows for a rich tapestry of interconnected tales, including well-known stories like “Aladdin” and “Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves,” showcasing themes of love, betrayal, and the power of storytelling.
